it actually is. as someone who dedicated his entire life to making family oriented films for many generations of children filled with magic, love, fantasy, and innocence. of course he’s disgusted with how otaku culture has heavily influenced most, if not all anime.

This makes me so sad, as a young girl I remember watching his movies and loving that it wasn’t just another Disney Princess, who I felt seemed untouchable, but Kiki and Princess Mononoke. They were happy, sad, fought viciously. They weren’t always sweet, they could be too stubborn or covered in blood. But they were amazing girls. It’s sad to me that the person who created all that can’t look back fondly on it and that others have violated it. He did amazing work and inspired an entire generation of kids across the globe in such a positive way. I wish we could inspire him back..
